An increase of one fast-food outlet corresponded with four additional cases of MI per 100 000 people per year (4.07, 95% confidence interval, 3.86-4.28). Conclusions: FFD was positively associated with incidence of MI in both rural and metropolitan areas of NSW. This relationship remained consistent after multivariate adjustment for standard cardiovascular risk factors, highlighting the importance of an individual's food environment as a potential contributor towards their health.]]> Wed 28 Feb 2024 14:47:00 AEDT ]]> Disparities in the incidence of acute myocardial infarction: long-term trends from the Hunter region https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:32642 Wed 24 Nov 2021 15:52:35 AEDT ]]> Physical activity protects from incident anxiety: a meta-analysis of prospective cohort studies https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:37416 Wed 18 Nov 2020 09:52:50 AEDT ]]> Cervical cancer screening programs and guidelines in low- and middle-income countries https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:29679 Wed 17 Nov 2021 16:31:51 AEDT ]]> Trends in incidence of ESKD in people with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes in Australia, 2002-2013 https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:42195 Wed 13 Mar 2024 11:21:56 AEDT ]]> Delirium Screening and Pharmacotherapy in the ICU: The Patients Are Not the Only Ones Confused https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:52434 Wed 11 Oct 2023 14:47:26 AEDT ]]> A population-based study of breast cancer prevalence in Australia: predicting the future health care needs of women living with breast cancer https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:16777 Wed 11 Apr 2018 16:38:43 AEST ]]> Incidence of contrast-induced nephropathy in intensive care patients undergoing computerised tomography and prevalence of risk factors https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:7635 Wed 11 Apr 2018 11:03:32 AEST ]]> Seasonal variation in stroke in the Hunter Region, Australia: a 5-year hospital-based study, 1995-2000 https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:1820 =65 years of age. Factors associated with AF were assessed using logistic regression. Results: From 2000 to 2015, a total of 1827 women with AF were identified. AF prevalence increased every year as women aged from 2.71% (95% CI 1.62%–3.80%) in 2000 among women aged 74–79 years to 24.83% (95% CI = 23.23%–26.44%) in 2015 among women aged 89–94 years. The incidence proportion remained constant (between 3% and 5%) throughout the study period. Sedentary lifestyle (OR = 1.24, 95% CI = 1.04–1.49), hypertension (OR = 1.24, 95% CI = 1.09–1.42), arthritis (OR = 1.24, 95% CI = 1.09–1.41), heart attack (OR = 1.62, 95% CI = 1.18–2.24), and angina (OR = 1.39, 95% CI = 1.14–1.70) were independently associated with AF. Mean CHA2DS2-VA score for women with AF was 3.43 (SD ± 1.23). Conclusions: The prevalence of AF reported in Australian women is among the highest compared to previous estimations from other countries and regions. According to the findings, about one in four women over the age of 90 years had AF. These women were also at high risk of stroke. This has significant public health implications especially with changing demographics of increase in the aging population. Further research is required on understanding how women with AF are treated in Australia and their health outcomes.]]> Mon 29 Jan 2024 17:43:06 AEDT ]]> Sex differences in long-term quality of life among survivors after stroke in the INSTRUCT https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:46624 unadjusted 1 year, -0.147; 95% CI, -0.258 to -0.036; 5 years, -0.090; 95% CI, -0.119 to -0.062). After adjustment for age, stroke severity, prestroke dependency, and depression, these pooled median differences were attenuated, more greatly at 1 year (-0.067; 95% CI, -0.111 to -0.022) than at 5 years (-0.085; 95% CI, -0.135 to -0.034). Conclusions: Women consistently exhibited poorer HRQoL after stroke than men. This was partly attributable to women's advanced age, more severe strokes, prestroke dependency, and poststroke depression, suggesting targets to reduce the differences. There was some evidence of residual differences in HRQoL between sexes but they were small and unlikely to be clinically significant.]]> Mon 28 Nov 2022 11:32:40 AEDT ]]> Trends in the incidence of first acute myocardial infarction in metropolitan and regional areas of the Hunter Region https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:41893 Mon 15 Aug 2022 12:02:34 AEST ]]> Incidence of pregnancy and disease-modifying therapy exposure trends in women with multiple sclerosis: a contemporary cohort study https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:41847 p = 0.010); but no differences in spontaneous abortions, term or preterm births.
